Fishcreek Elementary School partnered with Circle K Convenience Stores to participate in the national Fueling Our Schools Program during the 2016-17 school year. On Jan. 23, the school received its first $1,000 check from Circle K, presented by Circle K Great Lakes Market manager Jeff Herdlick and Jim Underwood, manager at the Circle K on Fishcreek Road.

All schools in the program will participate in two national Fuel Up Nights and two local nights at Circle K. During those evenings, 10 cents per gallon of fuel purchased at Circle K between 4 and 8 p.m. will be donated to the school.

The first national night was Oct. 21, and the second night will be May 5. The local events were Dec. 2 and will be March 24. Additionally, every other day during the school year, Circle K will donate one cent per gallon, up to $1,000 per semester.

To participate in any Fuel Up Night, fill up at the Circle K gas station on the corner of Stow Road and Fishcreek Road in Stow. Additionally, those who participate during a Fuel Up Night can turn in their receipts, name and phone number to enter for a chance to win two $50 Circle K gift cards. The drawings will take place twice during the year when the biannual donation is made to the school.

Fishcreek Elementary plans to use the additional funding for student awards and incentives, school supplies, classroom materials and to support school spirit.

"This has been a wonderful program so far," said Principal Joanne Brookover. "It is an easy way for those in the community to give back to the school and will benefit all of our students. Thank you to all those who have participated by using the pump at Circle K and to those at Circle K who have helped us organize this program."
