Police Reports is a sampling of incidents responded to by the Aurora Police Department. It is not intended to be all-inclusive.

Theft: Three Akron women were charged with receiving stolen property Jan. 12 after police said they were in possession of merchandise worth $75 which was taken from a South Chillicothe Road store. They were taken to the Portage County Jail. As their vehicle was being towed it was discovered it had possibly fictitious plates.

Property damage: A Ravenna woman reported Jan. 13 that when she returned to her parked vehicle in Barrington Town Square, it had been keyed. No value of the damage was given, and police said there were no suspects.

A Deerfield Lane woman reported Jan. 14 that while taking down her holiday decorations, she found two strings of lights were cut. No value of the loss was given.

Drug paraphernalia found: An Aurora man reported Jan. 14 that while jogging on Aurora-Hudson Road, he found a handbag and while checking for the owner's ID, he found drug paraphernalia, which police targeted for destruction.


Collisions: No citation was issued Dec. 30 when police said an Aurora man turned from Route 306 onto Crackel Road and his vehicle struck a Windham man's car. No injuries were reported.

Truck hits pole: Police said a Georgia woman struck a traffic sign post and sideswiped a utility pole Jan. 7 at 5:40 p.m. while turning from Route 43 onto Route 82 in a commercial vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citation was issued.

DUI arrests: A Chagrin Falls man was stopped for speeding Jan. 15 at 1:55 a.m. and was cited for driving under the influence. He was taken to the Portage County Jail.

A Hudson man was stopped on West Pioneer Trail on Jan. 14 at 12:25 a.m. for failing to stop at a stop sign and was cited for driving under the influence. He refused to take a breath test and was released on bond.
