Adult ballet classes -- new session

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering Adult Ballet lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. Come join the fun, meet new people, and get some exercise. These classes are designed to promote good posture, self-confidence, and grace, while teaching students how to strengthen and protect their bodies from injury. The classes will consist of traditional ballet barre, stretching exercises and mild ballet center floor combinations. All classes are four-week sessions with new Tuesday sessions beginning Jan. 31 and running through Feb. 21 and Thursday sessions beginning Feb. 2 and running through Feb. 23. Tuesday classes are Intermediate, 9 to 10:15 a.m., Intermediate 6 to 7 p.m., and Beginner 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday class is Beginner/Intermediate. from 9 to 10 a.m. All class fees must be paid at first class.

Ballroom nights

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering Ballroom Nights at the Quirk Cultural Center on Jan. 27. The event includes a light snack, music and a dance lesson provided by John and Pam Burton. Come have fun and meet new people. There will be a free lesson offered from 7:30 to 8 p.m., and an open dance from 8 to 10:30 pm. No partner needed, ages 16 and older only. Parks and Recreation CFABA Baseball Registration

The Cuyahoga Falls Amateur Baseball Association, sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, will host registration for the baseball program Feb. 4 and 11 and March 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Quirk Cultural Center. There will also be a late registration on March 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Quirk.

This baseball program is designed so that everyone who registers is placed on a team and will play in every game. Uniforms, equipment, fields and coaches are provided. Each player must provide his glove and all-purpose shoes. Registration fees are higher for older players. Players ages 5 to 18 are eligible to play. No fundraising for parents.

Daddy Daughter Date Night at the Quirk Cultural Center

The Parks and Recreation Department announces the dates for the 2017 Daddy Daughter Date Night. This traditional event has three dates available-- Feb. 3 and 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Feb. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center. This event is sponsored by Dietz Floral and Greenhouse, and includes dinner, dancing, flowers, and some beach party fun.

Girls must be 4 years old and above. Seating is on a first come basis beginning at 6:15 p.m. for the evening dances, and 12:45 p.m. for the afternoon dance. Those wishing to sit together should arrive together. Reservations should be made in advance beginning Jan. 23 for residents and Jan. 30 for non-residents. There are different costs for residents and non-residents to attend.
