Brent Forrer, owner of All Around Cyclery in Hudson, is hosting a free Bike Maintenance Clinic Jan. 22 for Wheels4Change, a non- profit organization with a mission to honor our fallen heroes, support military families and serve our veterans.

Wheels4Change accomplishes these goals by providing outreach, education and awareness to veterans and their families whose lives have been impacted by military trauma. Their focus is on local change to make a national impact. Forrer will host a group of veterans in his shop located in the Evaporator Works at C-5, 46 Ravenna St. in Hudson.

Forrer plans to cover the fundamentals of taking a donated bicycle and getting it up to par making it fully rideable as a means of transportation, fitness and recreation for the Vets.

Forrer plans to grow his new partnership with Wheels4change in the future by accepting donated bicycles and getting them to the organization. One of the 2017 objectives for Wheels4Change is to distribute more than 100 bicycles to veterans who are willing to earn them with "give back" hours through bike repair or other volunteer work. This not only provides them with often-needed transportation but also promotes the goals of health, accountability, motivation and involvement in the greater community that Wheels4change has in motion for the coming year. This is a cause near and dear to Forrer's heart. His father was a Vietnam vet who passed away in 2015.
