Gerald Kohanski will continue to lead the Aurora Board of Education as president, and Pam Mehallis will continue as vice president in 2017. They were re-elected to the posts at the Board's Jan.5 organizational meeting.

According to the district's website, Kohanski has served on the Board for 19 years, including 17 as president. He is an adjunct professor of English at Kent State University and a retired corporate executive in the aerospace, mining, energy, special machinery and retail industries.

He was born and reared in Cleveland, and has lived and worked in Saginaw, Mich. and Watertown, N.Y. He holds degrees from John Carroll and Case Western Reserve universities.

Mehallis is a graduate of Aurora High School and Miami University of Ohio, and is in her third term on the Board. Other Board members are Annie Grohe, Beverly Kuch and Zena Elliott.
