Nordonia Hills Branch Library hours set
The library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed Sundays.
The library will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 for Christmas Eve and Christmas.
For students in kindergarten through fifth-grade, monthly challenges are located in children's area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the December project, try to follow the directions of the snowmen.
Baby Time is Thursdays through Jan. 19 at 10:15 a.m. For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.
Toddler Story Time is Thursdays through Jan. 19 at 11:15 a.m. For children 2- to 3-years- old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!
Preschool Story Time is Thursdays through Jan. 19 at 12:30 p.m. For children 3- to 5-years-old, not yet in kindergarten. Stories, rhymes, and more!
An Evening of Jazz with Curtis Taylor
Grammy-Award winning trumpeter Curtis Taylor returns Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The celebrated musician will perform live with his jazz quartet. Seats are first-come, first-seated.
Adult Coloring Night set
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends Dec. 27 at 6 p.m.
Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, usually meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. The next discussion will be "Dead Key," by D. M. Pulley on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.
Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed -- stretches are done standing or in a chair.
Dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to 20 participants, and registration is strongly suggested. The next session is Wednesdays, Jan. 4 and 18, and Feb. 1 and 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Yoga for youngsters
Children kindergarten through fourth-grade can join us for some yoga fun presented by Nirvana Yoga Dec. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss "Reader's Choice" of a Cleo Coyle "Coffeehouse Mystery" on Jan. 9 at 2 p.m.
3rd -4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Jan. 9, we will read Happy New Year Mallory by Laurie Friedman.
Join us for messy fun! Don't forget to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. On Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. we will have some fun doing tea bag painting.
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be servedJan. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what's going on your life, school, town or the world. We'll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group's mind. And don't forget we'll have cookies Jan. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Caf, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens Jan. 11at 6:30 p.m.
Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessey by Rachel Joyce.
Writers' Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The first meeting will be a meet and greet on Jan. 18.
Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games "meet-up" each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players Sharpen your intellect - Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we'll get together for some great crafts. Play a few games of Winter I Spy on Jan. 23.
Mini Teen Makerspace
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 6:30 p.m. we will get together and create with a different medium. On Jan. 24, learn some electronics - try your hand connecting squishy circuits.
Mush!: The History of Dogsledding
Join the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Cleveland Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. for a talk on all things sled dog the history of the Siberian husky breed, their relationship to Cleveland, and Balto, the most famous sled dog in the world. Learn about the Iditarod, local races, mushing equipment and commands, then meet a real Siberian Husky with Q&A from the musher.
