The new Ms. Wheelchair USA, Sylvia Longmire, will be a featured guest at The Dane Foundation and the City of Stow's Kandy Kane Xpress Holiday Festival Dec. 4, 1 to 5 p.m. at Stow City Hall.

The event is supporting the "jolliest Santa CAUSE," The Dane Foundation.

Longmire was crowned the new Ms. Wheelchair USA in July and is touring the USA and abroad talking to audiences about the program, The Dane Foundation, and living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Longmire is an Air Force veteran, and is still serving the country as a consultant on drug trafficking issues.

She will be on hand volunteering at the Mini Christmas tree auction and meeting attendees at this year's holiday festival.

Children of all ages can enjoy numerous holiday activities and entertainments at The Kandy Kane Xpress Holiday Festival. Attendees can help visit our Elf Shoppe, or spend the afternoon holiday "Krafting" Santa hats, stockings ornaments, and more. Cookie decorating is also on the list. Holiday cookies are ready to be frosted and eaten along with milk from Smith Dairy.

The North Pole will be home to holiday characters including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frozen friends, Kandy, the 8-foot talking candy cane, and more holiday fun.

Attendees may take their own photos with Santa and the other characters at no charge. The mini Christmas tree auction will also occur throughout the day. Admission to the festival is free with the donation of a new men's toiletry item (examples are shampoo, soap, toothpaste, perfumes, and other products). Some activities require activity tickets. The event proceeds benefit The Dane Foundation, addressing the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, single mothers, and senior citizens. This year's request list includes more than 300 local individuals, children, and families asking for holiday assistance from The Dane Foundation.
