The Nordonia Hills Lions Club is pairing with other Lions Clubs of Northeast Ohio to send care packages overseas to Ohio based military units.

Thanks to generous donations, the Lions have been able to send more than 125 boxes filled with candies, cookies, books, toiletries, and more.

The lions hope to fill the final batch of boxes with holiday cheer on Nov. 12, the last day donations are being accepted and are asking residents, families, churches, and coworkers to join together by filling out Christmas cards to help lift the spirits of the men and women fighting for our freedom this holiday season.

They also enjoy home made cards and pictures from children.

Those who wish to help should drop off cards and letters at the Nordonia Hills Branch Library circulation desk.

The Lions will be filling care packages Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Royalton Public Library, 5071 Wallings Road in North Royalton.

Items sought for care packages include home-made cookies, pastry and individually wrapped candies in food storage container.

Boxes will be filled, sealed and delivered to the Post Office.

It costs about $20 per box to mail these items, so postage donations are also encouraged.

The Lions are attempting to service two platoons that are currently in harm's way.
