Celebrating a focus on literacy and the joy of reading, Dr. Dru Tomlin, the director of the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) visited Hudson Middle School staff and students in September.

An article, authored by Middle School Principal Dr. Kim Cockley, detailing the school's FOCUS literacy enrichment program will appear in the printed AMLE Journal in late fall, and Tomlin selected this article to highlight with a more in-depth interview.

A video featuring these conversations with students and staff will appear in the online publication of the journal article for any reader interested in learning more about the program. The excitement and passion for reading of the students and staff was evident to Tomlin. "Not only were the interviews absolutely awesome, but everyone was so gracious, kind and professional. It was such a treat," said Tomlin following the visit. "Please share my appreciation with the teachers, staff, and students who shared their passion and insights. Clearly, your leadership and commitment to the critical middle grades are creating a stellar atmosphere at Hudson Middle School."

"We were so honored to host Dr. Tomlin from AMLE at our school," Cockley said. "His gracious visit affirmed our focus on the whole child and on our collaborative efforts to inspire a love of reading with all of our students!"
