Boy Scout Troop 273 is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with its chartered organization, St. Stephens Lutheran Church, located at 3725 Kent Road in Stow.
There will be an open house on Oct. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the church. The open house will showcase the skills Scouts learn through a variety of activities and Scouting adventures. There will be food, fun, friendship and fellowship. Past members of the troop are encouraged to visit and share their experiences. This is a free event and the public is invited to come and sample the food and see what the troop has done over the years.
The Boy Scout organization prides itself on giving back to the community through service projects. Throughout the year it participates in several projects where the Scouts volunteer time to churches, schools, the library and many other local organizations.
Each Eagle Scout must complete a service project that benefits the community as part of the requirements to earn the highest rank in Scouting. Very few Scouts make it to the rank of Eagle. Troop 273 is proud to have more than 70 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle during the first 50 years of its charter.
