The city will begin fall hydrant flushing throughout Hudson from Oct. 10-21. The city flushes the hydrants to remove sediment and deposits that naturally accumulate.

Residents may notice discolored water for a short time during the flushing process. If your water is discolored, run it until it becomes clear. Discoloration only affects the appearance of the water, not the taste or quality, so it is safe to drink. However, it is advised to not use laundry facilities when experiencing discolored water. In some instances, the brownish water may stain clothing.
