Akron to host

Ohio's largest judged quilt show

One of Ohio's largest displays of antique and contemporary quilts will be hosted by the Summit County Historical Society Oct. 22 and 23 in downtown Akron.

The Second Annual Mutton Hill Quilt Show will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 22, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 at the John S. Knight Center at 77 East Mill Street. Parking is free both days in nearby decks.

The display of antique and contemporary quilts, including new categories this year, will feature nearly 250 quilts, many submitted for competitive judging. Quilts are being judged by recognized quilting authorities and must have been made after Jan. 1, 2013.

The event will also include free quilting lectures, and 25 different merchandise vendors will offer a variety of supplies and machinery for quilters as well as scissor sharpening.

The Summit County Historical Society will host a Preview Party, "A Salute to Ohio Craft," on Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Knight Center.
