Northfield Village leaf pick-up will be Oct. 31 to Nov. 30 this year. Leaves should be placed in long windrows on tree lawns or street side, not in tall piles, and at least 10 feet from obstacles such as fire hydrants, utility poles and mailboxes. Leaves are not to be placed in the street, but must be no further than 3 feet from the roadway so the vacuum hose can reach the pile. Piles should not contain sticks, twigs, rocks, grass clippings, trash or other material that may clog the leaf machine. If debris is found in a pile, workers will not collect the rest of the pile.

Pickup will start on the east side of the village with Ward C, then Ward B, then west to Ward A, then Ward D. There will only be one pickup.

Residents who still have leaves after their street is picked up should bag them for rubbish pickup. Bags should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Residents should have their leaves out by the first day of their ward's pickup day. Check the message board in front of village hall more for information. Residents can also contact the service department at 330-468-4363 or stop by the department at 199 Ledge Road to pick up the schedule.

Service Superintendent Harold J. Walters asks residents to understand the leaf pickup program is a tremendous expense to the village, and is done as a courtesy to residents.
