Summit County Clerk of Courts to accept electronic
filing in criminal
Beginning Sept. 19, the Summit County Clerk of Court's office will accept electronic filing of court documents for cases in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas Criminal Division. The E-Filing system will allow attorneys and pro-se litigants to file the vast majority of pleadings and other documents from any place that they can access the internet and at any time of day.
"Many of our customers are in the habit of electronic filing due to our civil division and domestic relations division utilizing electronic filing for the last several years," said Summit County Clerk of Courts Sandra Kurt. "Now all divisions will offer the security and convenience of filing when it best fits our customers' schedules."

Village Council will have work session on water rate issue Sept. 19
Silver Lake Village Council will have a work session on Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Village Hall, 2961 Kent Road, to discuss a potential change to the village's water rate ordinance.
Nearly every resident is connected to the village's water and sewer systems and pays a flat rate of $15.94 per month for water system maintenance and are then also charged for the water they use. There are 30 village homes on North Dover Road and Woodland Lane that are not connected to the village's water or sewer system who do not pay this flat rate, according to village officials. With the legislation, officials are proposing charging $15.94 per month to these residents because water from a fire hydrant could be used to put out a blaze at their home. Council on Sept. 6 decided to table the legislation until Nov. 21. In the interim, they will discuss the issue beginning with the work session on Sept. 19. Following the work session, Council will have a regular meeting at 7.
