Upcoming meetings

There will be a joint public meeting on regional dispatching on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in Stow City Council Chambers. It will include City Councils from Stow, Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls.

Stow City Council committee meetings will begin 6 p.m. on Sept. 20. Stow City Council will not meet Sept. 22.

The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education will meet Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. at NEONet, Graham Road in Cuyahoga Falls for a special meeting. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at Fishcreek Elementary School.

Munroe Falls City Council will meet Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in Council chambers in City Hall.

Stow Planning Commission will meet Sept. 26 at 6 p.m., rescheduled from Sept. 13.

Stow Planning Commission will have a community meeting Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. for public input on the city's comprehensive plan.

Trick or Treat set for Oct. 29

Trick or Treat will be Oct. 29 in both Stow and Munroe Falls: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Stow and 6 to 8 p.m. in Munroe Falls.

The annual Trick or Treat Street event at Stow City Hall will be Oct. 28 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Children are invited to come to City Hall in costume and enjoy sidewalk chalk, treats and meet and greet the Snow Queen, Princess Beauty and more.

Munroe Falls Police Chief Jerry Hughes announces the firing range is scheduled to be utilized on the following dates: Sept. 21; and Oct. 5, 12, 19, 20, 21 and 26.

County Councilman to host Office Hours

Summit County Councilmember John Schmidt, District 2, announces he will host public office hours on Sept. 22 between 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Public Library, 2015 Third St., Cuyahoga Falls. Councilman Schmidt will be available to answer questions and hear concerns from constituents. District 2 includes most of the city of Cuyahoga Falls, the city of Munroe Falls and portions of Akron including East Akron, Goodyear Heights and North Hill.

Unused meds can be dropped off at police station

The Munroe Falls Police Department has added a D.U.M.P (Dispose of Unused Medications Properly) Box inside the Police Station Lobby at 43 Munroe Falls Ave. for the use by citizens. With the current drug epidemic in Summit County, and prescription medication being a serious problem especially with youth, the department would like to provide a safe and easy way for residents to dispose of unused medications. Here are the guidelines for using the box:

Keep the medicines in their original containers.

Mark out the name and address.

Make sure all lids are closed tightly.

Secure the medications inside a sealable plastic bag.

This box is for pills, capsules, or liquid medicines -- syringes cannot be accepted.

Farmers Market open through Sept. 27

The Munroe Falls Farmers Market is now open on Tuesdays through Sept. 27 from 3 until 6 p.m. at Brust Park.

Stow Farmers

Market open through Oct. 8

The Stow Community Farmers Market at the Stow Community United Church of Christ will be open on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to Oct. 8, rain or shine. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor should contact Judy in the church office at 330-688-8927. The market is especially wanting to encourage vendors selling homegrown fruits and vegetables, and cheese.

The church is on Pilgrim Drive in Stow, one block from Graham Road behind the Briarwood Nursing Home.

Senator to have

district office hours

State Sen. Frank LaRose (R-Hudson) will have his district office hours on Sept. 24, at Stow City Hall, 3760 Darrow Road in Stow from 9 to 11 a.m. LaRose represents Wayne and portions of Summit and Stark counties in northeast Ohio.

No appointment is necessary. In an effort to make himself accessible to everyone in his district, LaRose has office hours once a month at several locations.

Office hours planned

Munroe Falls Councilmen Michael "Mike" Barnes and John Hegnauer will each have public office hours.

On the second Saturday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Councilman Barnes will be at the Morning Owl Coffeehouse. 297 N. Main St. in Munroe Falls.

Councilman Barnes welcomes the opportunity to answer questions and hear the concerns of all Munroe Falls citizens. Those not able to attend can contact Councilman Barnes directly 330-328-2382 or email Councilman_Barnes@Yahoo.com.

Councilman John Hegnauer will continue to have public office hours on the last Saturday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m. at McDonald's, 12 Munroe Falls Ave. in Munroe Falls.

Citizens are encouraged to use these office hours as an opportunity to connect with local government. Councilman Hegnauer will be available to answer questions and hear concerns about the community.
