Doogan's now under
ownership of Walter
Doogan's of Aurora has a new owner. The sale took place in the spring.
Jeff Walter said he's hired an almost entirely new staff of 30, including Executive Chef Ron Zarembski Jr., who has worked hard to spice up the menu with more fresh food.
Zarembski said the menu now also features a section of panini sandwiches, which have proved quite popular.
Both agree the restaurant's best dish is New Orleans Pasta, a jambalaya over pasta.
Walter said he plans to try to give back to the community as much as possible. He's donated food to Aurora High's band program and hosted the AHS football team for dinner Sept. 8. Chicken parmigiana was served.
Doogan's hours are 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. Sundays. A banquet hall also is available for special events.

Davey is 13th largest
owned by employees
The Davey Tree Expert Co. in Kent is the 13th largest employee-owned company in the U.S., according to data from the National Center for Employee Ownership.
The NCEO's 2016 Employee Ownership 100 list includes the nation's largest companies that are at least 50 percent owned by an employee stock ownership plan or other broad-based employee ownership plan.

"Encouraging and supporting employee ownership, and the culture it fosters, will remain a key to strong performances by the Davey Company in the future."
The 2016 list shows Davey's growth, as the company ranked No. 17 on the 2014 list of the largest employee-owned firms when it employed more than 7,800. In 2015, Davey ranked 15th on the list and employed more than 8,000.
