Northfield Village — A missing teen has been found safe following a car chase Tuesday afternoon through Northfield Village and Macedonia.

An Amber Alert was sent out at approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday for a 15-year-old Brunswick girl. The Amber Alert stated she was abducted by her biological father, William Roberts, 40, of Ravenna, from Brunswick.

The alert was officially cancelled just before 2 p.m. Tuesday after Northfield Village Police apprehended the man following a vehicle chase.

According to a Sept. 13 press release by Brunswick Police, “Northfield police observed the vehicle we were looking for and attempted to stop the truck, which subsequently fled.”

Macedonia Police say they assisted when the chase came through the city, and Sagamore Hills Police say they were on standby and ready to assist if necessary.

Phone calls to Northfield Village Police were not immediately returned.

Brunswick Police Lt. Brian Ohlin said the teen had been staying in the area with a foster family after Portage County Job and Family Services removed her from her father’s custody last week.

He said the girl’s foster mother came to the Brunswick Police station and reported her missing just before 8 p.m. Monday. He said the woman told police the girl had not come home from school.

Ohlin said the girl was speaking to Brunswick police in Northfield Village Tuesday afternoon, and he anticipates she will be picked up by Portage County Job and Family Services.

Roberts will be facing two felony counts kidnapping charges through Medina County, according to Ohlin, who said he expects Northfield Village will be charging him with felony fleeing charges and taking him to Summit County Jail.

According to the Attorney General’s website, Roberts is a registered sex offender who was convicted of gross sexual imposition in April 2005. He is currently facing fifth-degree felony drug charges, according to a complaint filed Aug. 19 with the Portage County Municipal Court.
