Car crash to blame for Labor Day power outage for some residents

A car crashed into a pole at the corner of South Munroe Road and Norton Drive on Labor Day, Sept. 5, bringing down some power distribution wires.

"We had 226 customers without service from 7:47 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.," says Christopher Eck, a senior communications representative for FirstEnergy. A pole belonging to the phone company was damaged in the accident. FirstEnergy could not re-attach its wires until the phone company replaced its pole.
