Macedonia — Full access to Shepard Road in Macedonia, which was restricted on the northbound side of the intersection July 5, has been restored.
The closure was part of the $4.6 million, state-funded widening of Route 82 to add a two-way left-turn lane in the center of the road.
The work also included improvements to the Shepard Road/Route 82 intersection.
Access to Shepard Road south of Route 82 was closed October through December last year, as crews installed a storm sewer and began improving the intersection.
The work is the third phase of a three-phase plan to widen Route 82 in the city. The first phase, from Route 8 to Macedonia Commons Boulevard, was completed in the late 1990s.
The second phase took place in 2008 and included the $15 million replacement of the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge and extended east to Crow Drive.
