Alek Henderson, a junior at Walsh Jesuit High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. This accomplishment represents almost five years of adventure, fun, work, and dedication to the Boy Scout program for Alek, a member of Troop 882 which charted by the United Methodist Church of Macedonia. During the process of satisfying the requirements for the Eagle rank, Alek has performed community service, provided service and leadership for his troop, and is currently serving as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 882.
In addition to the traditional outdoor skills learned in Boy Scouts, he has earned 39 merit badges ranging from archery to wilderness survival. His Eagle project was organizing and coordinating a project for UMC which was the rebuilding of the dumpster surround and recycling areas. Over 20 volunteers logged almost 300 hours of service to complete the project.
Alek was formally presented the Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor ceremony at UMC on December 6th. He is pictured after placing his name plate on the Troop 882 Eagle Scout plaque.
