Tallmadge -- The jury trial for the man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend and their son sometime last summer and dumping their bodies behind their Stone Creek Drive home has been delayed until next year.

According to records from the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, after waiving his right to a speedy trial, a trial for Daniel T. Tighe, of Akron, was scheduled for Sept. 2. Court records show pretrial hearings will now take place Feb. 3, 2015.

Tighe is accused of killing 31-year-old Wendy Ralston and 5-year-old Peyton Ralston and dropping their bodies in a densely wooded area. Their badly decomposed remains were discovered on Aug. 10 of last year.

Tighe, 40, is being held on a $2 million bond at the Summit County Jail, where he has been incarcerated since he was arrested at an Akron residence in October 2013. He had been staying at the residence since the discovery of the badly decomposed remains.

Tighe pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder, with two specifications for death, in the killing of his son and murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend. Both charges are first-degree felonies.

He also is charged with two counts of tampering with evidence, third-degree felonies; two counts of domestic violence, fourth-degree felonies; and two counts of gross abuse of a corpse, fifth-degree felonies.

If convicted of aggravated murder with at least one death specification, Tighe could be sentenced to death.

Court-appointed attorneys Brian M. Pierce and Joseph F. Gorman, of Akron, are representing Tighe as the state has determined that he is indigent.
