HUDSON, OH  – Hudson City Council is moving forward to appoint Jane Howington as City Manager.

Currently City Manager for Newport, Rhode Island, Ms. Howington brings more than 25 years of experience to this position. While in Newport, she collaborated on the development of regional partnerships, applied varied approaches to communications, implemented successful technology initiatives, and used trending, analysis and systems mapping methodologies as an approach to managing a high-performing organization.

Previously, she served as City Manager for Kalispell, Montana from 2009 to 2012, where she built a fiscally sustainable program for the city’s funds through reversing a negative financial trend and rebuilding rates and assessments. She also served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Dayton, Ohio (2007-2009) and as City Manager for Oxford, Ohio (2000-2007).

Council selected Ms. Howington after a nationwide search that was performed by Novak Consulting Group. The process generated a field of 70 applicants, which was narrowed to 11. Five individuals were invited for interviews.

According to the Newport Patch, Howington announced she would be resigning from her post on June 26, but at that time did not cite a reason.

Howington also had applied for the Brunswick City Manager position, which was eventually filled by former Hudson City Manager Anthony Bales.
