After more than two years of planning, The Country Club of Hudson hosted a ground breaking ceremony in March to begin the first phase of a comprehensive renovation project that will ultimately include every element of the club.

The ceremony featured James G. Lang, President of the club's board of trustees, fellow board members Christopher Prado, William Foley and Bob McKechnie as well as several members of the club. Construction on the first phase of the plan began immediately and is expected to be complete by May 15th to allow for the beginning of the many outdoor social activities that are planned throughout the summer.

Phase one will include the building of a new cabana bar, terrace extension, and improvements to the pool, dressing facilities, adding pool and outdoor lighting as well as several significant water amenities for young and old alike. The cabana bar will seat more than 35 people and will feature complete food service and bar facilities. It will feature five wide screen televisions as well as electric heaters so that the area can also be used in cooler weather. The terrace will be connected with the recently added terrace and outdoor fire pit into one large lighted entertainment area that will be used for dining, outdoor parties, weddings and other social occasions. The entire area will be tied together with a landscaping plan featuring flower beds and perennial plantings. The club will enlarge its play space for the children of young members.

The club is also building a new service galley which will connect to the main clubhouse to support enhanced food service for outdoor entertainment. New furniture and eating space will add to member enjoyment.

"This was a wonderful event, but it was only the first step in achieving our vision for the Country Club of Hudson, which is to be one of the premier private clubs in Northeastern Ohio," Lang said. "Our Board, several other members and the staff continue to work many long hours in a push to make additional phases of this project a reality. Our members voted overwhelmingly in support of these changes and share in the excitement about the construction of these new facilities."
