The Rotary Club of Hudson will host its annual Gala Auction May 16 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Twinsburg.

Tickets are $75 per person and include dinner, an open bar, a chance in a cash raffle and a silent and live auction. The event is black tie optional.

For ticket information, or to make a donation, call 330-715-9733.

Beneficiaries of this year's Gala are Gift of Life or Northeast Ohio, Hudson's Safety Town and the Hudson EMS Outreach Fund. Proceeds also support Hudson's Service Learning Class, Boy Scout troop 321 and the Rotary scholarship program for Hudson students.

Last May Hudsonites attended the gala in support of Gift of Life of Northeast Ohio. This is a program to surgically rescue children born with heart impairment and treated at Akron Children's Hospital by doctors Ellen and Jeff Kempf.

In November the doctors brought a two-year-old Haitian child, Kelf Bully, to Akron for heart surgery. The Rotary Club's gift helped cover the costs involved.

"We had a ball at the Gala," said Gala co-chair Rotarian Ron Strobl, "and at the same time [we were] filled with gratitude that the Gift of Life was working to save lives."

"The whole program is so heart-warming that we were compelled to put Gift of Life at the head of our beneficiary list this year as well," said Connie Mroczkowski - co-chair of this year's event, "Let's hope we can support another wonderful outcome like this."

Gail Royster also is co-chairing the Gala event.
