TCP helping to reduce
confusion about bulbs
With the government-mandated phaseout of incandescent light bulbs making news, Technical Consumer Products Inc. in Aurora want Americans to “Get a PhD in LED,” a Facebook promotion to educate the public.
Residents can participate by going to TCP’s Facebook page at and clicking on the “Free TCP LED Light Bulb” promotion. “LED students” will be presented basic facts about LED lighting options. TCP will send everyone who participates a free LED light bulb to try at their home or business.
TCP plans to share more facts and information about LED lighting on the company’s Facebook timeline and Twitter feed so “students” can continue their education.
TCP’s product offerings include LED lamps and fixtures, compact fluorescent lamps, energy efficient halogen lamps, exit and emergency lighting, HID, decorative and outdoor fixtures, ballasts and fixtures and linear lamps.

Tournoux earns post
at city’s PartsSource

Homes for sale rise
last year from 2012
The Ohio Association of Realtors reports the number of single-family homes and condominiums put under agreement in December increased from the results from the prior year.
“It’s evident, based on the slight increase in the number of home purchase contracts that occurred in December, that the Ohio housing market is becoming more balanced in its ongoing recovery,” said OAR President Chris Hall. “December’s uptick in pending sales reverses a slight two-month dip for the marketplace, which had previously posted 29 consecutive months of year-over-year gains dating back to May 2011.
“Our housing market is undoubtedly entering a more traditional period, one that will experience monthly ebbs and flows in activity moving forward,” Hall added. “Ohio’s housing market remains well positioned for would-be buyers as we enter a new year, with favorable interest rates, stable pricing and continued improvement in our overall economic condition.”
Ohio’s December Pending Home Sales Index of 123.1, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, increased 1.5 percent from the December 2012 index score of 121.3.
An index of 100 is equal to the average level of contract activity during 2008, which marked the end of five consecutive record years for existing home sales and the onset of the recession.

New auto, truck sales
up 10 percent in 2013
New car and truck sales were up 10.3 percent from 2012 to 2013 in Northern Ohio, according to figures from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association. In December 2013, sales were up more than 12 percent compared to the same month in 2012.
Sales for all of 2013 totaled 229,534 vehicles in the association’s 21-county region. Dealers sold 16,648 vehicles in December 2013, compared to 14,682 in December 2012.
Ford was Northern Ohio’s best-selling brand with 40,960 vehicles sold in 2013 (compared to 36,319 in 2012), which is an increase of 12.78 percent. Chevrolet was second with a sales increase of 15.75 percent (32,679 vehicles in 2013).
Honda was third with 19,977 sales and a year-to-year increase of 6.64 percent. Toyota was fourth with 19,698  and Kia finished fifth with 12,959.
Sales were the highest since 2005, when more than 237,000 new vehicles were sold in the region. The final Northern Ohio results beat sales forecasts by 300 vehicles, according to the GCADA.
