Second Saturdays at the Mac Rec
Attention fifth and sixth graders. The Macedonia Recreation Center will be opening its doors to these grades for a fun filled night of swimming, games, dancing and contests to win Chick-Fil-A from 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 9, Mar. 9 and Apr. 13. This event will be supervised by Macedonia Family Recreation Center staff. Each child in attendance must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver of release. Preregistration is encouraged, sign-ups will be accepted at the door but must have a waiver signed. Cost is $8 per child, prior to day of event, or $10 per child at the door.
Daddy/Daughter dance is Feb. 10
The Macedonia Family Recreation Center will host a Daddy/Daughter Dance for the first time at Macedonia Family Recreation Center Feb. 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Come enjoy a evening full of fun, excitement, and dancing complete with refreshments and music provided by a live DJ. Make sure to get a Daddy/Daughter photograph taken as a keepsake of a wonderful night spent together. Fathers -- or other adult loved ones -- don't miss out on a chance to spend some quality time with your daughter. This event is great for daughters 4 to 12 years old. No drop ins. No coupons.
Tickets are $15 per father/daughter couple and $5 for each additional daughter.
See the 'Dive in Movie'
Enjoy a movie, to be arranged, from a spot on the pool deck or a view while relaxing in the heated luxury of the Macedonia Family Recreation Center pool Feb. 15.
Visitors can bring something to sit on, and floatation devices are welcome, but are limited to inner tubes or small rafts. Floatation devices will be subject to the discretion of the recreation center staff. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. All ages welcome to this great movie, but children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the pool at all times. Space in the pool is limited, so be sure to sign up today and don't take the chance of not getting to join the fun. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 and older.
Spring soccer registration deadline is Feb. 9
League play for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 starts in April and ends early June. Children must be born on or after Aug. 1, 2008, to play.
All boys' league and all girls league U10 to U14 will travel to area communities. The U6 and U8 leagues will play in house. Most games will be played on Saturdays with practices on the weekdays. Volunteer coaches are needed. Registration deadline is Feb. 9. The cost is $60 for non-residents, $50 for residents and $45 for additional non-resident children and $35 for additional resident children.

An exciting LEGO adventure is happening and you're invited to join the Thursdays Feb. 28 to March 21.
Innovative educational hands-on program for children where students will design and build machines exploring engineering, architecture and physics. Each session has a new topic. Join us for lots of high impact learning and fun.

Learn and enjoy line dancing
Love to dance but have a partner who doesn't? Line dancing is fun, easy, and a great form of exercise, no partner needed. Line dancing is no longer just country...enjoy dancing to some great golden oldies, Latin melodies, and of course some country. Come learn a few easy dances, then practice what you've learned Feb. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. Great for all ages, shapes, and sizes. No drop ins. No coupons. Deadline to register is one week before class. Fee per date is $6.
Take a boater's safety course
Operating boats over 10 horsepower in Ohio requires all persons born after Jan. 1, 1982 to complete a boating education course. This course will teach basics of Ohio boating laws, including equipment, regulations, trailering, launching, and rules of the water. Course is Mondays, March 4 to 25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Participants must attend all four classes. Deadline to register is Feb. 27. No drop ins. No coupons. Program fee is $20, for residents $15 and for members $10.
Tap, ballet, jazz classes coming
Join "All About Dance" as participants ages 3 to 6 learn fun and exciting elements of dance. A routine will be taught for each session and will be performed the last day of class for family and friends. Classes are Tuesdays from March 5 to April 16, with no class April 2. Fees per session are $40 for members, $45 for residents and $50 for nonresidents.
Ballet, from 5:30 to 6 p.m., teaches techniques including positions, plies, eleve, and other ballet techniques. Helps with posture, exibility, and balance.
Tap, 6 to 6:30 p.m., teaches techniques including shuffles, heel drops, and more. Helps children with coordination, musical timing and foot articulation.
Fast to Fabulous Scrapbooking Workshop is Feb. 25
Traditional scrapbooking for the busy person Feb. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. Bring 75 to 100 presorted pictures, no more, no less, and go home with a completed album.
