Hudson -- The leadership for the Hudson Schools Board of Education will not change in 2013.

Dave Zuro, who was president in 2012 and Steve DiMauro, who served as vice president last year, were the only two Board members nominated for the positions at the Board's organizational meeting Jan. 10. With no other candidates, the Board did not have to approve their appointments.

Zuro was elected to the Board in 2009. His term expires Dec. 31, 2013.

DiMauro, in his second term, was elected in 2007 and 2009. His current term expires Dec. 31.

Board member Patricia Engelman nominated Zuro.

"I'd like to thank my colleagues on the Board for their continued confidence," Zuro said. "It is an honor and privileged to serve in that capacity."

Zuro stressed that the Board's authority is not individual but "derived as a Board of five."

"All of our actions are taken that way, and we have five equal votes," Zuro said. "What really is gratifying is how this Board works together in a collaborative way. We all share a common agenda: to do what is best for our students."

James Field nominated DiMauro.

"Thank you everyone," DiMauro said. "I'm honored to be VP and most importantly I'm very happy to have the pleasure of working with all of you."

Meeting times

The Board also voted to keep meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. in the high school media center. Exceptions will be made for holiday and break schedules.

Exceptions to second and fourth Monday meetings are: March 7 and 18 due to spring break; May 6 and 20 due to Memorial Day; Nov. 18; and Dec. 2 and 16.
