Kellie Patterson was unanimously elected president of the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education for 2013 last night. Patterson has served on the school board for five years. She was immediately sworn in by Treasurer David Hoskin.

"I want to thank my colleagues for their vote of confidence in me," Patterson said, adding, "There are many that would've thrown the towel in long ago. The fact that we sit here together despite the trials and tribulations that we've faced speaks volumes on the character of the people that I serve with. Our differences do not divide us. Our differences seem to be the driving force behind our determination to give the children and young adults of Cuyahoga Falls a foundation for success."

Barb Gunter, a seven-year member of the school board, was chosen as vice president.
