Planners gather tonight

The city's planning commission has scheduled a public hearing on a request for a conditional zoning certificate for a Yoga Life instructional studio at 330 E. Garfield Road for tonight (Nov. 7) at 7 in Town Hall.

At the regular planning panel meeting following the hearing, the yoga studio will then be discussed, and action could be taken.

Also on the agenda are plans for an assisted living facility at Route 43 and Aurora-Hudson Road, a revised development plan for Hawthorn of Aurora, a replat of cluster site 4 at Hawthorn and a lot split for Aurora Recreation LLC on Trails End.

Valuation hearings set

Complaints against any valuation or assessments of real property will be heard soon by the Portage County Board of Revision at offices in the Portage County Administration Building in Ravenna.

Valuations fixed and assessments made by the Ohio Department of Taxation are excepted. Revised valuations can be viewed in the county auditor's office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Complaints must be made in writing on official forms furnished by the county auditor and filed no later than March 31, 2013. Failure to do so will preclude the owner from any relief.

Library users can check

out SearchOhio, OhioLINK

Portage County District Library is highlighting SearchOhio and OhioLINK resource sharing services, which are free services available to anyone with a valid PCDL card.

Patrons can place their requests online and they are sent automatically to the library. Patrons will be notified when the items have arrived in the same way they are notified for other library reserves -- by phone or email.

SearchOhio is a lending consortium which consists of several public library systems throughout Ohio. Materials can be requested the same way as the Portage County catalog. Look for SearchOhio at the top of the screen.

OhioLINK is a lending consortium which consists primarily of colleges and universities throughout Ohio. Patrons can get textbooks and magazines. Look for OhioLINK at the top of the screen.

Breakfast with Santa set

on two days in December

The city's parks and recreation department will host its annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 at Doogan's of Aurora.

Two seatings will be offered at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 12 at the Walker Building. Seating is limited and tickets will be sold in person only, not by phone or fax.

Cost for the event is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Everyone taking a seat, even those in a highchair, will need to purchase a ticket.

The event includes a hot breakfast buffet, entertainment, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a take-home gift. Volunteers will be provided by the Aurora Rotary Club and AHS's Key Club.

ACT seeking short plays

Aspiring playwrights are invited to submit original one-act plays of no more than 10 pages or 10 minutes in length for consideration for Aurora Community Theatre's Aurora One-Acts Festival.

Top entries will be performed for two weekends Aug. 16-24, 2013, with the chance to win one of the following: judges' choice prize of $200 and audience choice prize of $200.
