The new WalMart SuperCenter in Streetsboro is slated to open Nov. 7.The grand opening will begin at 7:30 a.m. that morning, and the store will actually open with the ribbon cutting at 8 a.m., according to Tracey DeYoung, who is in charge of communications for the store.The store is on Route 14 near the Ohio Turnpike.On Nov. 6, there will be a VIP event starting at 6 p.m., said DeYoung. "We're going to hand out all the grants that night," she said.Company officials will hand out about $30,000 in WalMart Foundation Community Grants that night.Attending the VIP event will be Mayor Mark Pavlick, Pam Danner, Parks-Recreation Department Director Elaine VanHoose, Heather Lorezon of Hattie Larlham and Streetsboro Fire Department Public Information Officer Kevin Grimm.Also, Fire Chief Wayne Johnson, Police Chief Richard A. Taiclet, Malinda Davis of Streetsboro Christian Cupboard, Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kori Marsinek, Streetsboro schools Superintendent Tom Giovangnoli and WalMart District Manager Ray Hartman.The Streetsboro Middle School Band will play, according to DeYoung.WalMart employees have been busy stocking shelves for about the last month, according to WalMart Floor Project Manager Ray Coon.At 200,000 square feet, the new store is 115,000 square feet larger than the old one, which Store Manager Philomena Serena said will close Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.
