July 29, 2007 " Jacob McWhirter and the #7 Victory Racing/Brown Derby Roadhouse Cadet Junior Sportsman continued their winning ways at Barberton Speedway. Jake won the first heat from the pole. The second heat found Jake starting in the back. In an effort to avoid contact with other karts Jake laid back during the warm up lap. Unfortunately, the green flag waved a lap early with Jake at least twenty kart lengths behind the front row. Undaunted, Jake began working his way through the field. By the midpoint of the heat Jake made a strong move on the leader who made a rookie mistake of not checking to the inside. The contact allowed two other karts to move to the front while Jake made a great save to keep his kart out of the grass. With two laps to go Jake made his final pass on the way to claiming a hard fought heat win.
After claiming his eighth Barberton pole, Jake cruised to his sixth straight victory at Barberton and series leading eighth win. In what is becoming a typical race for Jake, he ran his fastest laps at the end of the feature despite the heat and high humidity.
Jake and Victory Racing will be at Thompson Raceway Park on August 5th for the third race of the Kids1st series. The Kids1st series spotlights the best Kid and Cadet karters from Ohio and Pennsylvania. Jake has won both poles in the series with a win and a runner-up finish.
