by Sean GerskiStow Sentry EditorStow -- Stow Pride activities will be in full swing this week, with activities available every day.The festival, which will run through July 4, will include festivals, flyovers and food.Pride Festival FlyoversCommercial Aviation will continue a more-than-10-year tradition of offering plane rides during Stow Pride this year.Al Beckwith, owner of Commercial Aviation, said residents can purchase a plane ride for three people, with a total weight not to exceed 375 pounds, in a Cessna-172 Skyhawk for $85. Flights will depart from Kent State University Airport.The flights will last 20 minutes and fly approximately 1,000 feet above the ground. The rides can be taken throughout the duration of Stow Pride, from June 23 to July 4, Beckwith said.Flight times are from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on weekends and July 4. All flights can be rescheduled if they are canceled due to bad weather, Beckwith said.Interested residents should call 330-686-1234 for reservations and leave their name and phone number if no one is available. Joshua Stow FestThis year's Joshua Stow Fest takes place June 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage at Lake Silver Springs Park off Young Road. There will be free parking and admission for the event.The Joshua Stow Fest will offer activities for children -- including a petting zoo, crafts from the Stow Parks and Recreation Department, and story time with staff from the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. The petting zoo will take place June 23 from noon to 4 p.m. and June 24 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.Stow SancturetumOpen HouseThis year's open house in the Sancturetum will take place June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and offer free hot dogs and other refreshments to visitors.Holly Tree Trail will lead residents to the entrance of the property, said Sue Mottl, the city's landscape arborist.To volunteer or for other questions, call Mottl at 330-689-5121.Pride Community BreakfastThe 34th annual Pride Community Breakfast will take place June 27 and provide pancakes to attendees from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Stow-Munroe Falls High School, 3227 E. Pride Ice Cream SocialThe First Christian Church in Stow's Pride Ice Cream Social will mark its 30th year June 27.The event is set to take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., rain or shine.Aside from ice cream, the menu will include sloppy-joes, potato salad, chips, different kinds of homemade pies and cakes and beverages.For more information, call 330-688-4450.
