by Andrea ColeAssociate EditorMunroe Falls -- The community is invited to listen to music while enjoying a swim in the Munroe Falls Metro Park June 8.The Friends of the Metro Parks Serving Summit County will host Music by the Lake from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Munroe Falls Metro Park, 521 S. River Road.There will be free admission to the event, and the Friends of Metro Parks will serve free cake and ice cream, courtesy of Acme Fresh Market. A one-hour concert by the Metro Parks Ensemble will begin at 6:30 p.m., and individuals should bring a blanket or chair, said Metro Parks Marketing and Communications Specialist Nathan Eppink."This is our fifth year hosting the event," he said. "Once we have a good thing, we stick with it. We have more people coming out with each concert."The Metro Parks Ensemble is a volunteer musical group of approximately 30 registered members, said Eppink."They will play a good mix of showtunes and popular songs," he said. "They will play everything from 'The Star-Spangled Banner' to the theme from 'The Muppet Show.' They'll often get crowds singing along."Eppink said Music by the Lake also is scheduled for July 6 and Aug. 10. The events will be canceled if it rains. For a concert status, call 330-865-8060 the day of the concerts after 4 p.m.The Metro Parks also will offer free admission June 16 for its Summer Celebration event."We always have this the Saturday before Father's Day in Munroe Falls and at the Silver Creek Metro Park," he said.Aside from the nights of Music by the Lake and the Summer Celebration, an admission fee or season pass is required for admittance to the park through Aug. 26. Daily admission is $4 for adults and teenagers, ages 13 and older, and $3 for children. Children under 2 are admitted free.Season passes also are available until July 15. The cost for Summit County adults and teenagers, ages 13 and older, is $30. The cost for children and senior citizens who reside in Summit County is $15.
