Youth Pottery Camp

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is hosting pottery camp for ages 8 to 16 on Saturdays from June 2 to 23. Children ages 8 to 10 meet from 10 to 11:45 a.m. while ages 11 to 16 meet from noon to 2 p.m.

Wading pools to open

Lions, Linden, Indian Mountain, Quirk Cultural Center, Valley Vista and Oak parks all have filtered, chlorinated pools to cool off in during the summer months. These supervised pools are designed for children nine years and younger. Swim diapers are required for diaper age children. The 2007 schedule is June 9 to Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The pools will be closed for the season after Aug. 26.

Summer concerts

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer Music in the Parks Concert Series featuring the Cuyahoga Falls Community Band. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m., unless noted.

Cuyahoga Falls Community Band concerts will begin June 4 at the Amphitheatre at Falls River Square at 8 p.m.

Adult tennis lessons

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department will offer adult tennis lessons beginning June 5 at Oak Park, and June 6 at Valley Vista Park tennis courts. Beginner classes meet from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. and intermediate classes meet from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. at each of the sites.

Ballroom dance

Ballroom dance lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center. will continue to June 21. All ages welcome, singles and couples welcome. Registration is taken at the Parks and Recreation Office and at the Quirk Cultural Center.

Thursday Nights

Beginners -- This class will cover dances such as Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Cha Cha, Rhumba and more. Class is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Intermediates -- This class will cover additional dances such as Quickstep, Samba, Bolero and others. Class is 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Argentine Tango -- Come learn the original Tango, from Buenos Aires. Class is 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Selling on eBay

The Parks and Recreation Department has a computer class that will go through every step including opening a seller account, a Paypal account, conducting effective product research and managing a "My e-Bay account. Students need to bring an item to class to create their first listing.

Class is June 13 and 20 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Dance and gymnastics classes for youth

For those "spirited" ones who like to move, the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department will offer a new session of Saturday dance and gymnastics classes beginning June 2 to July 28, there will be no class July 14, at the Quirk Cultural Center. The following classes are being offered:

Pre Ballet, for ages 4 to 6 will be 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Tap, Tumbling and Jazz for ages 4 to 6 will be 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Intro. and Gymnastics I for ages 6 to 12 will be 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Gymnastics II and III for ages 6 to 12 will be noon to 1 p.m.

Tap and Jazz for ages 7 to 12 will be 1 to 2 p.m.

Basic Jewelry

Start the summer out with a new class -- fashion jewelry. Participants will complete a necklace and matching earrings using semiprecious stone beads, pearls and sterling silver. The first class will be June 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Quirk Cultural Center. Jewelry on display there also.

Reading and Math Tutoring

As school gets closer, bring children to Quirk Cultural Center for child friendly tutoring, books and learning games. One-week sessions will be conducted by two certified teachers. The first week is June 18 to 22.

Adult ballet

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is now offering Adult Ballet lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center. This one-hour class will consist of traditional ballet barre, stretching exercises and mild ballet center floor combinations. All classes are 4-week sessions with a new session beginning on June 5, from 9 to 10 a.m.
