offered in park
The Harold Welch Nature Center is located on Route 91, just south of Route 59 in Adell Durbin Park. The Center, a wood building west of the tennis courts, can be accessed from the main parking lot and operates year round.
The Center fosters stewardship of the earth through education and appreciation of nature. Saturday or Sunday afternoon programs are offered year round to the public, including hikes and nature-related presentations.
Naturalist-guided hikes and programs are available to school children and youth groups. Volunteer opportunities exist for all ages, for both short-term and long-term projects. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department office at 330-689-5151.
The next hike, scheduled for May 26 at 2 p.m., will be a "Scavenger Hunt." Bring the family for a fun afternoon of searching the woods and fields for unusual and colorful artifacts of nature.
