This week’s church softball team will play tonight (June 21) at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. at Sunny Lake Field 13. The Aurora Farmers Market continues Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. through Aug. 30.
The church board heard various reports and shared discussions at its monthly meeting June 19. Flip Eavenson was the featured soloist at the June 18 service. She began singing at Brecksville United Methodist Church was she was 13, and has spent the last 20 years at the Church in Aurora.
Here are some activities coming up at Aurora Mennonite Church: Tonight (June 21) — youth group at 6:30; June 27 — senior fellowship group to the Haven of Rest; June 30 — Rock the Park in Twinsburg; July 15 — small group cookout at Brienza residence; July 18 — senior fellowship to Stan Hywet Hall.
Feast Day coming
A parish Feast Day celebration will be June 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, with an outdoor Mass at 10:30 a.m. and a spaghetti dinner following. Sister Lu Haidnick’s 20th anniversary of ministry at OLPH will be recognized.
Participants are welcome to bring chairs and/ or blankets. Signup sheets for volunteers for the celebration are available. Gluten-free meals are available upon request, and RSVP for those is needed by today (June 21). There will be a kids corner and door prizes.
The Knights of Columbus preparation for the spaghetti dinner will begin June 24 at 9 a.m. Anyone wishing to help or who would like more information about the Knights should call Dan Rondini at 330-562-2541.
OLPH women will have a night out June 22 at 7 p.m. at Tomato Grill in the First & Main shopping area of downtown Hudson. Call Shannon at 440-679-1325 to make reservations.
Franklin Eze Chukwuon-ye, son of Michael and Josephine, was baptized recently. OLPH collected $3,045 for Catholic Relief Services through the rice bowl program. Anyone who knows of someone homebound who wants to receive communion should call Sister Lu at ext. 112.
Karen Yash will conduct a Grace and the Mystics class for adults starting today (June 21) and running through July 19. Classes are from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $10. Signup is available in the parish office.
OLPH’s rummage sale will be July 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dropoff of items begins July 10 and is possible Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus will host a bus trip to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on Aug. 18. Cost is $40 per person. Call 330-274-4982 and leave a message to reserve a seat. UM youth events
Youths from Aurora United Methodist Church will work Blue Rose Mission in Mansfield from June 25-July 1 to repair homes for those who need assistance. Coming up July 10-14 is the "Hero Central" vacation Bible school from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Sign up at 017.cokesburyvbs.com/ AuroraUMC
LIFE events slated
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge is a welcome place for families. One offering for families is a ministry called Family LIFE. Family LIFE stands for "Families Living In Faith Everyday" and is a ministry that provides families opportunities to gather and support one another in raising their young children faithfully.
Lord of Life Lutheran Church families gathered recently to participate as a team in the Chagrin Valley CROP Walk. More than $2,000 was raised by the team to fight hunger.
This summer, the church’s Family LIFE program is planning events for families with young children to help others and have fun. The activities include baking brownies for a homeless shelter meal on June 24, packing brown bag lunches for Habitat for Humanity volunteers on July 19 and dinner and a movie on Aug. 6.

Rafting trip slated
Incoming ninth-graders at Parkside Church will go on as rafting and camping trip June 26-27. Information is available at www.parksidechurch.com/ rafting.
Single Moms group will meet July 6 and 13 for topical discussions and July 20 for a crafts night. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. on the commons patio. Child car is available. For details, call Theresa at 216-659-7324.

Valley VBS slated
Valley Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge’s vacation Bible school will run July 10-14 from 9 a.m. to noon with the theme "Hero Central: Discover Your Strength in God." It is for children 3 years old to those entering fifth grade. Cost is $25 per child with a $65 fee maximum per family. Contract the church office for information and to sign up.
Each Thursday at 7 a.m., Valley’s men’s prayer breakfast group meets in fellowship hall for food, fellowship and prayer. Each time they meet, they send out about 60 letters to "prayer partners."
The list comes from sources such as individuals in the congregation, as well as relatives and friends.
