Eggs and a movie
First Baptist Church’s Easter egg-stravaganza will be April 8 at 10 a.m. for children through third grade. Candy donations are still needed to fill 1,200 eggs. Donations can be placed in the box in the foyer.
Club 306 movie night for grades 3 to 6 will be April 9 at 6 p.m. for "Zootopia." A question and answer period will follow, and popcorn will be available. Contact Pastor Matthew Russell for details.
An Easter luncheon will be April 9 after the worship service. Participants should sign up in the welcome center to bring an Easter dish. See Sharon M. or Crystal H. for details.
A baby dedication seminar will be April 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. for adults to dedicate themselves as a parent of a baby or child. The basics of Christian parenting from a Biblical perspective will be studied.
Parkside Church on Pettibone Road in Bainbridge is gearing up for Easter. Palm Sunday services will be April 9 at 8:15, 9:45 and 11:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Good Friday service will be April 14 at 7 p.m.. Child care will be available on Palm Sunday and Good Friday. The church offices will be closed April 14.
Easter services are at 8:15, 9:45 and 11:15 a.m., but none in the evening, and there will be nursery, preschool and kindergarten classes, but no life groups or morning classes for children in grades 1 to 12.
Other activities coming up at Parkside are: April 5 and 12 — transit at 7 p.m.; April 6 — men’s morning Bible study at 6:30, women’s morning study at 9:30 and student life groups at 7 p.m.; April 7 — parents night out from 6 to 9; April 8 — GEO KIdz service at 9:30 a.m. and young family play day from 4 to 7 p.m. at 31200 Solon Road; April 11 — preschool storytime at 11 a.m. and Club JV at 7:30 p.m.
St. Joseph-Mantua’s annual Palm Sunday all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be April 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include pancakes, toppings, sausage, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk.
There also will be theme basket raffles and children's attendance drawings. The Women's Auxiliary of the Mantua Knights of Columbus Council 3766 will host this year's event.
The Appalachian Experience bake sale also will take place in the hallway during the event, and in the narthex of the church on April 8. Plenty of baked goods are needed to keep the sale well supplied.
VBS slated in June
Lord of Life Lutheran Church on Route 306 in Bainbridge will present "Passport to Peru" vacation Bible school June 12 -16 for children through fifth grade. Easter plans told
An Easter egg hunt is planned April 9 at 1 p.m. at Aurora United Methodist Church for children age 12 and younger. It will be preceded by a potluck dinner, which follows the morning worship service. It will include games, crafts and candy.
A Good Friday service will take place April 14 at 7 p.m. and there will be a drama presentation titled "Crossroads," about the last day of Christ on earth.
Easter Sunday service will be April 16 at 10:30 a.m. Youths will conduct a sunrise service at 8 a.m. and a pancake breakfast will follow at 9.
OLPH eyes Easter
Palm Sunday Masses will be April 8 at 4:30 p.m. and April 9 at 9 and 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. There will be a Tuesday Mass April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown and a Holy Thursday Mass April 13 at 7 p.m. at OLPH.
Stations of the Cross will be observed April 14 at noon and 7 p.m., a blessing of Easter baskets will be April 15 at noon and an Easter vigil at 8 p.m. and Easter Masses are at 8 and 10 a.m. and noon. Church decorating for Easter will be April 15 at 9 a.m.
New office hours are in effect at the church — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the office will be closed on Fridays.
The Jesus Day-First Communion retreat will be April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Help is needed to glaze chalices April 10 for use before First Communion. Call or email Mac Clapp if you are available.
Camp signups set
All reservations for members of Aurora Mennonite Church to attend summer camp at Camp Lutz are due by April 11. A $10 fee will cover the early registration discount.
