Northampton United Methodist Church

The church's fitness classes welcome community members into 2017 to help with their new goals or continue their good habits. Zumba and Fit NOW (a walking group) are on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., and yoga is on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Contact the church for details.

NUMC's Missions committee has two collections for January. First, new, packaged men's, boys' and girls' undershirts, underpants, and white athletic socks in all sizes, gloves and stocking caps (in that order of need) will be taken to the Salvation Army. Women's underpants are also needed.

The church is also collecting personal care items for the monthly food pantry at Heart 4 The City: regular-sized shampoo, deodorant, soap, feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.

Look for bins on the Welcome Desk and in the Narthex to place donations.

Pastor Keith McLaughlin invites the community to join in worship on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. (traditional), 9:45 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. (contemporary). Infant - preschool care is offered in the Children's Center across from the sanctuary. Sunday School classes for kids adults are offered during the 9:45 and 11:10 hour. Teens 6th-12th grades are invited to Radi8 during the 11:10 worship hour.

Pilgrim United Church of Christ

Pilgrim United Church of Christ, located at 130 Broad Blvd., invites community members to join the congregation each Sunday for Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

All are welcome to join the congregation for worship. Ring in the new year with Pilgrim's Faith Formation classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m. Pilgrim's Bible Studies have begun for the Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays will begin Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. Confirmation for youth will begin Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. J.O.Y. Kids Club for children in Kindergarten through the fifth grade will pick up on Jan. 25 and continue through March 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. featuring the Exploration of Love, Forgiveness, Prayer, Peace & Caring for One Another and God's Creation and includes a light meal.The next Pilgrim Free Community Lunch Program will be Jan. 14. First United Methodist Church

Worship services at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, are on Sundays at 8:30 and 11 a.m. The church has many Sunday School classes for all ages which meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. There is child care available for infants through preschoolers all morning and the church has a Children's Worship service for those in Kindergarten through fifth grade during the 11 a.m. service.

Wesley Youth (grades 4-6) will head to Lock 3 on Jan. 8 for an afternoon of ice skating.

Bring a sack lunch to eat at the church at noon. Transportation will be by church bus and the group will return at 3 p.m. Bring your own skates if you have them or plan to rent a pair. Call the Education office at 330-923-5241, Ext. 218, to sign up.

Scams targeting seniors will be the subject of the Jan. 12 Going Strong program. Joseph McCorvey, Consumer Affairs Outreach Specialist from the Summit County Office of Consumer Affairs, will explain the many scams seniors may experience.The program will begin at 1 p.m.

Broadman Baptist Church

Broadman Baptist Church is located at 350 E. Bath Rd. and invites all to renew their faith in 2017. Worship services are Sunday at 11a.m. with Sunday School from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Wednesday worship begins with a meal at 5:30 p.m., prayer and praise service at 6:30 p.m. and Bible studies for all ages at 7 p.m.

The youth group will be attending its winter retreat at Seneca Lake Jan, 13-16.

The new senior pastor, Steve Oswalt, will be installed on Feb. 5 at the 11 a.m. worship service.

First Christian Church

First Christian Church is located on the corner of Second Street and Stow Avenue.

Child care is available for Sunday School and Sunday Worship. Sunday mornings at 9:30 are the Sunday School programs for all ages. Sunday at 10:45 explore Scripture's application to everyday life, or get a "Second Wind" at the alternative worship service on Wednesday nights at 6:30.

This informal and interactive service looks at current events through the lens of faith.

FCC's membership class begins Jan. 8 at 9:30 a.m. It will continue weekly until March and will focus on teaching about the congregation and the denomination that FCC is a part of-- The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Jan. 15 is Undie Sunday and the congregation is collecting donations of new socks and underwear of all sizes. Donations may be dropped off at the office during the week.

Throughout January the congregation is collecting cans of coffee to donate to Haven of Rest in Akron. Donations may be brought to worship on Sunday mornings or delivered to the church office.

Northminster Presbyterian Church

Northminster Presbyterian Church, 104 W. Portage Trail Extension, worships at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday with the Rev. Stephanie Crossland. On Jan. 8, the Rev. Crossland will speak on I Am Well Pleased, and will include Baptism of the Lord, and The Sacrament of Holy Communion. The Jan. 15 service will focus on Here Is the Lamb of God.

Children's Sunday School classes will resume on Jan. 15, and will meet during the worship service following A Moment with God's Children. In January, the theme of their study is Jesus, God's Son, and will include lessons of Search for the King and Talk with the Teachers.

The Junior Shining Stars' class is for children in kindergarten through second grade, and The Senior Shining Stars' class is for those in third grade through sixth grade. All children are welcome to join the classes at any time. A nursery room is staffed and open for those children under the age of 5.
