AURORA ROTARY CLUB

The Rotary Club of Aurora will once again offer Dial-A-Santa for kids to call in and speak with Santa Claus. It will be Dec. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Children should call Santa at 330-562-6188.

Rotary held its Christmas party Nov. 30 at the Bertram Inn. Organizers were Karen Bordonaro and Pam Mehallis.

Students of the month from Aurora and Streetsboro high schools attended the club's Nov. 16 meetin and talked about their activities and future plans. They are Ian Doemling and Maddie DiSilva from AHS and Nicole Tacsar and Jake Suttell from Streetsboro.

Foreign exchange student Natalia Roncholeta gave an update, noting she is having a great time here and was able to attend a Cleveland Indians game.

Joe Kotlin from the Aurora One Fund gave a resentation about the fund's history and his long involvement with it. He said it started in 1960 in Aurora Library's basement and has grown to help more than 15 agencies in Aurora. Kotlin has volunteered as executive director since 1975.

Rotarians are helping with the city's breakfast with Santa at Doogan's. The first session was Dec. 3 and the last one is Dec. 10.

A fireside chat with George Schumacher will be Dec. 14 and the students of the month will be recognized Dec. 21. There will be no meeting Dec. 28.

Rotary Club officers for 2016-17 are: Kathi Grandillo, president; Karen Bordonaro, presicent-elect; Ron Echelberry, treasruer; Jane Adams, secretary; Roger Cram, foundation liaison; Pat Costanza, membership chair; Ben Askren, first-year director; Pete DeSouza, two-year director; and George Schumacher, past president.
