Order poinsettias

Poinsettia orders are being taken at the Church in Aurora for the Christmas season until Nov. 21. Order forms were in the Nov. 13 bulletin and will be on the chapel tables Nov. 20. Members can designate a poinsettia in honor or in memory of a loved one.

Girl Scouts are collecting used and unwanted crayons during November to be recycled and given to children in hospitals. A collection box in on the desk outside the toddler room in the Great Hall.

The Caring Tree will be set up Nov. 20. This month’s food pantry needs are corn, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce and large cans of yams. Free Our Daily Bread devotionals are available in the side chapels.

The faith pledge campaign is entering its second month and there are still several families to hear from. Return FP cards as soon as possible so the drive can be ended for this year.

 

Baking and movie

A baking and movie night for youths will take place Nov. 19 at Aurora United Methodist Church, while a men’s breakfast will be Nov. 20 at 8 a.m. in Jones Hall. The latter is sponsored by the DoScipleship group.

Following worship on Nov. 20, the third of three new member classes will meet. Members of the church will gather Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. to hang the greens for the holiday season.

 

Nights out offered

Moms at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will go to 6 Horse Tavern at the Aurora Inn tonight (Nov. 16) at 7 For details, email slfcooch@hotmail.com.

A parents night out will be Dec. 2 from 6:40 to 9:30 p.m. Volunteers will watch children age 4 to fifth grade so parents can have some free time. A movie will be shown and children will make cards for hospital patients. PIzza and drinks will be provided. Registration starts Nov. 19.

PSR classes will meet Nov. 28-29, but not Nov. 20-22 and 27. First Reconciliation will take place Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. for candidates and their families. They should gather at 6:45 in the church.

The next Sacrament of Reconciliation will be Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m.

St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown will present its annual Advent procession of lessons and carols Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.

Other coming events are: Nov. 17 — Spirited Senbiors at noon, charity and justice meeting and Boy Scouts at 7 p.m.; Nov. 19 — equal exchange sale and Giving Tree tags available; Nov. 20 — equal exchange sale, Giving Tree tags available, CLOW at 11 a.m. and high school ministry at 6:30 p.m.

 

Disaster meeting

Mennonite Disaster Relief will conduct its annual meeting Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at Mapleview Mennonite Church on Burton-Windsor Road in Burton. Updates and information will be presented.

Meanwhile, Aurora Mennonite Church’s mission committee is supporting the Way Out Christmas gift bags for inmates program. Fliers are available on the table in the foyer showing specific items needed. Items must be turned in at the church by Dec. 8.

The senior fellowship will visit the Haven of Rest on Dec. 2, and a Christmas hymn sing will be Dec. 11 at 3:30 p.m.

 

Adult life gathers

The adult life group at First Baptist Church in Aurora meets every other Friday at 7 p.m. at the Tuckers’ home in Aurlra for a study of the book of 1 Peter. If interested in joining, contact Jim or Sandy Tucker.

Coaches, referees and concessions stand help is needed for the Upward basketball season this winter. Contact Pastor Drew Carroll if interested. Pracices begin Dec. 5 and registration is still possible.

Worship at L of L

A Thanksgiving Eve service will take place Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge.
