252 Basics -- Parents looking for an opportunity for their children to learn about Jesus in a fun and interactive way may be interested in a new children's ministry education program offered on Sunday mornings for children ages 3 through fifth grade -- 252 Basics from Orange. This children's teaching time is designed to provoke discovery and invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Children will hear 150 key Bible stories, focus on four Faith Skills and 30 Life Aps (practical applications of God's Truth).
Family Fall Festival °-- Oct. 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. Pastor Andy promises "something for everyone" at this fun event, including food, a pumpkin carving contest and carnival games and prizes. This Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 274 N. Munroe Road, the Rev. Doug Knox, pastor, will give a sermon on "The Goal of the Church." "Our usual thoughts about the church are, 'What can it do for me?' says Rev. Knox. The biblical goal of the church focuses on what people can do for their brothers and sisters -- to seek unity in essential matters, celebrate diversity among the members, push for maturity in thinking and grow in love towards each other.
Chili Supper/Trunk or Treat -- Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge invites the community to a Chili Supper Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. Reservations are required, and may be made by calling 330-733-8906. A donation of $5 is requested per reservation. The meal includes a bowl of chili, cornbread/crackers/dessert/coffee/punch. Baked goods and other items will also be available for purchase. New Direction Community Church welcomes everyone to its weekly worship which begins at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday morning.
Trunk or Treat -- On Oct. 27, New Direction Community Church will again host its Trunk or Treat and Candy Trail event at the church at 226 Southeast Ave. The evening will include snacks, several cars that will be decorated for trick or treating, a wooded candy trail, hayrides and more. Oct. 23 -- Trunk or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church. The event is designed for the kids and the young at heart in the community as a way of offering an alternative to going door-to-door for treats. Children are invited to beg for treats, as well as play games in a safe, fun environment. Cars will be lined up with decorated trunks and safe candy and treats will be handed out to the little beggars. Refreshments available. A prize will be awarded for the best decorated car. Costumes are encouraged.
Nov. 19 -- Holiday Bazaar. St. Mark is hosting its second annual Holiday Bazaar Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church.
