St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Mogadore will host its annual Something Russian Festival Oct. 4 and 5 at the church, Route 532 and U.S. 224 in Mogadore. The two-day event, celebrating Russian food, music, dance and art, opens at 10 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. both days.
Ethnic lunches and dinners are available to eat at the church social hall or for take-out. Visitors are also invited to experience the old world atmosphere of the Russian Tea Room and enjoy one of the varieties of authentic imported teas.
 In the festival’s cultural tent, the St. Nicholas Balalaika Orchestra and the St. Nicholas Russian Youth Dancers will give live performances in the evenings on both days of the festival with balalaika ensembles playing throughout the afternoons.
The festival also offers an assortment of Russian nesting dolls, imported carvings and holiday gift items, Ukrainian Easter egg supplies and eggs, icons and other religious gifts available for purchase.
Church parishioners will provide guided tours of the church and answer questions about the Orthodox Christian faith. Visitors also can see the church’s iconography and learn more about the importance of iconography in the Orthodox church.
