Bible study will begin

The Thursday morning adult Bible study will reconvene Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Church in Aurora's library. Study guides will be provided on the Old Testament books of Ruth and Esther. Call Rodger Shaulis at 330-562-5683 for details.

An outdoor service and picnic will be Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. at the Escape. The fellowship committee will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages and paper products. Participants should take a dish to share.

There will be a memorial service for Roger Pease at the church Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m. An adult Sunday school course titled "The Cost of Discipleship" will begin Sept. 14 and meet Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

The 3-H Evening Group will start its meetings Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. and will study Michael S. Horton's book "The Law of Perfect Freedom." Cleaning help is needed Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon to help organize the closet in the basement. If interested, call Jennifer Teller at 330-562-6792.

Chadash cookout set

On Aug. 29, Congregation Kol Chadash will begin the evening with a cookout at 6:30at the Solon Community Park pavilion. There will be a special "Barking Blessing," so bring a four-legged family member and your own bags for cleanup. This event is open to the Jewish community.

An hour-long program will feature Outback Ray and his exotic live animal show. Participants should take a non-dairy side dish or dessert to share. They are encouraged to take a donation of pet goodies or paraphernalia to donate to the humane society.

Religious school classes start Sept. 7. Youngsters don't need to be members to attend, and there is no cost for kindergarteners and first-graders attending for their first year.

Seitz at LOL Lutheran

Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge Township will welcome intern pastor Emily Seitz at a church pincic Aug. 24 after the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

Seitz is a graduate of Valparaiso University. She was raised in Findlay and is excited about coming to the Cleveland area, including her love for the Indians baseball team. She has attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus since 2012.

She will arrive in time to help Lord of Life kick off its new program year. The opening event is Launch Sunday on Sept. 7, when the congregation hopes for 100 percent attendance.

Arthur study at Hope

A Kay Arthur ladies Bible study on Covenant (God's enduring Promises) will start Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Hope Community Church in Hudson.

"Of all the Bible studies I have ever written, none has been more popular or life-changing than the course on Covenant," said Arthur. "No subject ties the Word of God together more than Covenant because everything God does is based on Covenant."

New Life picnic slated

New Life Assembly of God's annual picnic will be Aug. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located on Orchard Avenue in the Geauga Lake neighborhood.

Beike to talk Aug. 24

Dr. Bob Beike, new director of the Summit Baptist Association, will preach the morning of Aug. 24 at First Baptist Church in Aurora. Worship leader Aug. 24 and 31 will be Karen Jones, wife of Martin Jones, the former Summit Baptist Association director.

My First School preschool families will have an opportunity to meet their children's teachers Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Six church members are needed to assist, and can use their connection cards to sign up. Raffle tickets available

Tickets for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church's Knights of Columbus' annual Chinese raffle will be available after Masses Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 6-7. All proceeds benefit needy families in Aurora.
