On May 27, the Aurora Cooks! group invited personal chef Sarah Mentzer to talk about local farmers markets and demonstrate her culinary expertise with yummy samples.

She has her own business called Home for Dinner, which she opened after earning her culinary degree from the University of Akron. She was an enthusiastic speaker who shared trade secrets with the group, according to a member of the group.

The group learned about different farmers markets in the area and watched as Mentzer prepared three dishes. The first course was a kale salad that complimented the main dish perfectly -- garlic pasta with fresh veggies. She also brought with her freshly made peach blueberry crumble.

The group also discussed "organic" food, how to store beef properly, what type of freezer to purchas, and chatted about the popularity of food trucks.

Anyone who would like to be part of the Aurora Cooks! should call Aurora Memorial Library at 330-562-6502.
