The scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Aurora has awarded $7,000 to students at Aurora and Streetsboro high schools. Brady Krebs in the committee chairman.
Aurora awardees are Hallie Anderson, Hannah Vitz and Joseph Burian, while Streetsboro recipients are Morgan Flag, Allison Kocis, Kaitlyn Nuber and Madeline Osldejsek. Each scholarship is worth $1,000.
Recently, the club voted to donate $750 to a team of Aurora High students who are going to the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. When the group returns, it will give a presentation to the Rotary Club.
Rotarians have until June 30 to make their annual donation to the Rotary International Foundation. The local club has given an average of $100 per member to the cause, the most money per member in the district.
The club’s annual changeover dinner will be June 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Doogan’s, when new officers will be sworn in to assume offices as of July 1. Dinner cost $30 per person, and spouses and other family members are welcome. Payments will be collected at the door.
The Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. at Doogan’s.

On June 12, Twins-burg Garden Club members will hear Kathryn Hanratty, president of the Native Plant Society, will give a powerpoint presentation on the best native plants to use in the garden. It is free and open to residents in Twinsburg and neighboring communities.
The Twinsburg Garden Club’s monthly meetings take place at the Twinsburg Community Center, 10260 Ravenna Road at 6:30 p.m.
The club will provide landscaping for two Habitat for Humanity homes being built in Twinsburg Township. The project will include trees, shrubs and perennials, chosen with easy maintenance in mind. The houses should be dedicated the end of June.
The club also will participate in the first Taste of Twinsburg on June 21, and will showcase its community project. Members will offer many hands-on projects for kids at the Taste.
