The next meeting of the newly formed Aurora Botanicals will be June 8 at 9 a.m. at the Community Gardens on Page Road. If it rains, the session will be at Starbucks.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce's annual golf outing will be June 12 with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. at Grantwood Golf Course in Solon.

PGA pro Mike Dessecker will conduct a chipping and putting clinic during the morning registration, and will be available to help tweak everyone's swing.

The cost is $100 per person, which includes lunch and a catered steak dinner, plus other amenities. A few hole sponsorships are still availiable.

Ohio Public Employee Retirees Chapter 96 will host the OPERI District 11 meeting June 12 at the Bertram Inn in Aurora. Registration starts at 10 a.m. Exhibitor booths will be open in the morning. The meeting starts at 11:45 a.m. with lunch at noon. The meeting and election of officers resume at 1 p.m. Cost is $15 per person.


Charlotte Anne Watson was born Feb. 13 at Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. to Ian and Elizabeth Watson of St. Joseph, who are former Aurora residents. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Maternal gradnparents are John Mizenko and Joyce Sherwood Mizenko, former residents of Aurora who are now living in St. Joseph. Paternal grandparents are Tony and Peggy Watson of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Lilah Grace Boston was born May 10 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces. She is the daughter of Donald and Jessica Boston of Ravenna. Grandparents are Marci Zepp of Aurora, Jeff Zepp of Mantua and Rick and Vickie Boston of Raveenna. Great-grandparents are Joseph Smolcic of Aurora and Juanita and Richard Wolford of Ravenna.


The Rotary Club of Aurora meets on Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. at Doogan's. The local Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Doogan's. TOPS gathers Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at Auroa United Methodist Church.


The next meeting of the Twinsburg Garden Club is June 13 at the Twinsburg Senior Center behind the outdoor pool at 10075 Ravenna Road. After the 6:30 p.m. meeting and refreshments, A.J. Shepler from Athens Foods will demonstrate ways to use the bounty of gardens.

Shepler is a research and development chef.
