Feb. 18 -- President's Day. An identity theft program, which is free and open to the public, will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Knitting/Crocheting for Charity, 7 p.m.; today is the anniversary of Martin Luther's death in 1546. He is remembered as the renewer of the church.

Feb. 19 -- Alpha Circle, 1 p.m.; evening Bible study, 7 p.m.

Feb. 20 -- Lenten soup supper, 6 p.m.; church service, 7 p.m.; choir practice, 8 p.m.

Feb. 23 -- Praise band practice, 10 a.m.

As part of the Holy Season of Lent, First Congregational Church invites everyone to live their spiritual life as a faith journey. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. or Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., the Senior Pastor's Lenten Bible Study will meet through March 20. The focus of the study will be about Jesus and the book "Saving Jesus from The Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus" by the Rev. Robin R. Meyers will be used.This will be an intentionallyprovoking study about following Jesus and his teachings.ArchbishopDesmond Tutu said about this book, "Every once in a while, a book comes along that changeseverything. This is the book 'Saving Jesus from the Church'is scholarly, pastoral, prophetic and eloquent -- all in equalmeasure.Meyers hasspoken the truth to power and the Church he loves will never be the same." Our Lady of Victory

The Year of Faith -- Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 73 North Ave., continues to celebrate The Year of Faith by sharing some OLV history each week in its bulletin.

Families can jump start faith activities in the home, primarily to assist parents in being the first and best teachers of their children in the ways of faith which may in turn foster family togetherness, learning and conversations about faith, in a fun and interactive way.

Ten-week series "Rediscover Our Faith -- the Catholicism Series" will be presented in one hour videos. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in a Lenten journey.

Lenten Bible Study -- Feb. 20, 7 to 9 p.m. in the Parish Center. The Gospel of Mark will be explored every Wednesday during Lent.

plans annual event

The Women's Board of Catholic Charities Community Services of Summit County will have its annual Luncheon, Style Show, Silent Auction and Raffle starting at 11 a.m. March 7 at Guy's Party Centre, 500 E. Waterloo Road in Akron.

Tickets are $20 per person. Make checks payable to Women's Board of CCCS/SC. Pre-paid reservations should be sent by March 2 to Mikey Stewart, 45 Bermont Ave., Munroe Falls 44262. Include name, address, and phone number. Indicate a seating preference.
