Bebby and Leititisa Johnson of Aurora are the proud parents of newborn daughter Ava Tyrese Johnson, who arrived Nov. 24 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, weighing 5 pounds, 15 ounces.

The baby's big brother is Justin Johnson, 14, and her big sisters are Arielle Dobine, 11, and Chelsea Johnson, 8. Her maternal grandparents are Rickey and Marla Gibson of Farmington, Mich., and her paternal grandparents are Bobby and Sandra Johnson of Irmo, S.C.


The Federated Democratic Women of Portage County will meet Dec. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at On Tap, 4396 Kent Road, Stow, for a Christmas party.

Those attending will order from the menu. There will be a $10 gift exchange, so those wishing to participate should take a wrapped gift.

The group also will install officers for 2013. Those planning to attend must contact Kathy Gray at 330-274-8077 or by today (Dec. 12) with the number of people attending.


For the first time in over a decade, the Girl Scouts cookie program is rolling out a new package design. The last one was in 1999.

The new boxes will highlight the skills girls learn while participating in the largest girl-led business in the country, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Each of the eight cookie varieties will display images of Girl Scouts volunteering in the community, enjoying arts, sports, traveling, and speaking at events, among other activities.

The decision to update the package came about in 2010 as part of Girl Scouts of the USA's overall brand refresh in advance of the organization's 100th anniversary. observed last March.
