Donations are being sought for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce's silent auction Dec. 5 during the holiday party and awards. Proceeds benefit the scholarship program for Aurora High School seniors.

The holiday party will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at ThornCreek Winery and Gardens on Treat Road. It will be catered by Mad Jack's Grill & Pub, and sponsored by Anna Maria of Aurora.

Business which recently joined the Chamber are Town Planner, Family Tree Home Care Services and Mad Jack's Grill & Pub.

The Chamber supports the Be a Santa to a Senior program, which in the last nine years has delivered more than 4,000 gifts to the area's needy senior citizens.

Area non-profit organizations identify financially needy and isolated seniors and provide names to Home Instead Senior Care. Names and gifts requests are written on ornaments and placed on Christmas trees.

Tree locations in Aurora and Streetsboro are Aurora Farms Premium Outlets, Dr. Jim Tomko's office, Aurora Senior Center, Aurora Mennonite Church and Streetsboro Senior Center.

Another benefit event -- called Paws to Taste -- is scheduled for Dec. 1 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fairways at Twin Lakes. It benefits the Portage Animal Protective League.

Participants can sample wines and beers, bid on gift baskets and purchase bottles and cases of wine. Funds will help find hundreds of dogs and cats homes.
