Summertime is art-time with the 2nd Friday Art Hop
Join studios, galleries and merchants on July 14 for a mid-summer's evening Art Hop in Hudson. From 5-8pm, guest artists will feature work in oil, clay, mixed media, colored pencils, even tea bag art. Plus, a jewelry trunk show will showcase artisans from around the world. Find a map at www.hudsonarthop.com or pick up one at a participating location that evening.
Suburban Sit will feature clay pieces by mother/daughter duo Kim Wise and Val Schwarz of kimmyzthings. Fair Trade on Main will feature a jewelry trunk show with LeAnne Johnson Absalom of Peace Love Bling, a company that partners with artisans in China, Thailand, Ecuador and the U.S.
At Hudson Fine Art & Framing, enjoy "Narratives on Nature" -- the realistic colored pencil art of Hudson artist Sandra Benny. Enjoy the wine & cheese reception then stop next door for the art of the baristas at Open Door Coffee Co., featuring employee/artists Shelby Johnson and Elaina Workley.
Visit Uncommon Art Gallery & Studios to see mini art painted on teabags by Dawn Gettig of Kirtland, and add some paint to her collaborative painting. Across the street at Viva Bene Gourmet (behind All Brides Beautiful), Mary McKee DiStefano's watercolors will be on display.
MOD at First & Main will feature a variety of local and national artists.
In south Hudson, the Red Twig will feature the clay and mixed media sculpture of Gail Trunick. Her creations are found in national and international collections. The Atlantic Monthly says of her work, "Trunick is capturing the texture of life one that isn't clean and beautiful, but gnarled and filled with emotion." Olive My Heart will present guest artist Tom Jackson whose oil paintings have received many awards including from the Butler Institute of American Art.
